Wateefy Electronics

One person. No corners cut.

Wateefy is a one-person hardware shop building pixel-lighting gear that survives the season that kills the cheap stuff.

Why Wateefy Exists

It started with boards that kept dying.

Cheap pixel controllers fail in predictable ways. A shovel shorts a run and takes the whole board. Somebody wires a supply backwards for two seconds. A strip gets hot-plugged and the kick walks through the regulator. None of that is exotic — it's a normal season in a real installation, and most boards have nothing standing in the path to stop any of it.

I got tired of that. So I taught myself PCB design and built the board I wanted to own — one where every failure mode has a specific part in front of it, chosen from a datasheet and verified against the copper. That board became the NODE family, and Wateefy is where it lives.

Who's Behind It

Wateefy is me — Master of Packets. By day I'm a Sr. Network architect/Owner of Wateefy Consulting/Electronic; the rest of the time I'm at a bench with a soldering iron, a 3D printer, and a wall of holiday pixels I keep pushing past what the hardware was meant to do. The engineering discipline comes from infrastructure that isn't allowed to fall over. The lights are where I get to have fun with it.

Every board is designed here, fabbed through a proper process, and hand-finished — conformal coated, tested, and packed by the same person who drew the schematic. There is no team to hide behind. If something's wrong, it's on me, and I'll make it right.

How I Build

01 · Protection first

Assume it gets abused

Reverse polarity, transients, shorted runs, backwards supplies — the board is designed for the bad day, not the bench. Nothing in the power path runs near its limit.

02 · Honest specs

Numbers you can check

Real ratings, real derating, real trade-offs stated out loud. No vaporware, no spec-sheet trophies that fall apart when someone does the math.

03 · Serviceable

Repair, don't replace

Fuses you can swap by hand. Open firmware. A board meant to be fixed and kept running, not thrown out when one channel dies.

04 · Open to the community

Built with the crowd

Runs WLED out of the box. Docs, board definitions, and STLs on GitHub. This gear is for the xLights / WLED people, built alongside them.

Thanks for taking a look.
If you're running pixels and tired of gear that gives up in December — you're in the right place.
